The Love Meita Tournamet

June 12th, 2005

The love meita organization is a non profit fishing community that promotes the well being of chinu or kurodai. They are sponsored by the local government and promote the release of small smolts for future generations to come.

This tournament is once a year and usually draws lots of eager anglers trying to catch the elusive big one. The main fish is the Chinu or Kurodai. Typically they like to hang around the surf breakers looking for crabs, mussels, shrimps and white barnacles. I myself like to use either crabs or mussels letting it either drift down along the breaker or casting out from the breaker.

Ok so how did it go right? Well I didn't fair to well, my wife and Wayne also got nothing too! Hmmm it seems this year is a tough one, the rainy season is late and so are the fish I think. If you look down along the breaker you'll actually notice there wasn't any mussels forming so maybe a couple more weeks till the fish really pile in. So how did the other fisherman do? Not so good but some anglers did fairly well. One fisherman got a monster on casting his mussel out from him. (about a 3-4 meter cast)

The great thing about this event is if you don't catch the big one you can always win a prize from your entry ticket. Wayne got a nice fish net, Yumi got line and I got a bag full of noodles, pancake mix and expensive leader line. Overall we all had a great time and can't wait till next year when I'm up on the podium.

Tight lines,
